The Wiles of the Devil

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

What is a “wile?” – according to the American Heritage Dictionary, a wile is “a stratagem or trick intended to deceive or ensnare” and “a disarming or seductive manner, device, or procedure.”

So the wiles of the Devil are seductive & deceptive tricks designed to deceive or ensnare his targets. The examples that Satan has used against humanity since the Garden of Eden include:

  1. Doubt the Word of God.
  2. Deny the Word of God.
  3. Disobey the Word of God .
  4. Die (spiritually, physically, and eternally).

The only successful strategy to defeat the Devil and his tricks is:

  1. Know the Word of God.
  2. Trust the Word of God.
  3. Obey the Word of God.
  4. Live.

Since Jesus Christ is the Living Word of God (John 1:1,14) , knowing, growing in, and obeying God’s Word results in knowing, growing in, and obeying Jesus Christ.

“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
